How to Set Up a Strong Password or Password for Your Zerion Wallet?

Learn how to set up a strong, secure passcode and password for your Zerion Wallet to protect against unauthorized access.

Updated over 2 months ago

When setting up your Zerion Wallet, you'll need to create a passcode for the mobile app or password for the extension. These security measures are essential to protect your wallet and prevent unauthorized access. Your password and password encrypt your recovery phrase, ensuring that even if someone gains access to your device, they cannot make transactions without the correct credentials. In this article, we'll provide tips for creating a strong and secure password.

ℹ️ Important

  • Both the passcode and password are stored locally on your device. Zerion cannot reset or recover these credentials, so it’s crucial to remember them.

Mobile: Passcode

On the mobile app, you’ll be prompted to create a 6-digit passcode. Here are some tips for choosing a secure passcode:

  • Avoid Simple passcode: Don’t use easily guessable combinations like 000000 or 123456.

  • Choose Unpredictably: Select a passcode that even those close to you wouldn’t guess.

  • Remember It: Since the passcode cannot be recovered, ensure you choose a combination that you can remember but is difficult for others to guess.

Extension: Password

When you install the Zerion Wallet extension, it's vital to create a strong yet memorable password. This password is crucial for safeguarding your wallet and should meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum Length: At least 6 characters.

  • Complexity: Use a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

  • Uniqueness: Avoid common or easily guessable passwords.
