Every token in your Zerion Wallet has a detailed breakdown showing how your position is performing. When you tap on an asset (usually a token), you see numbers for Equity, Total PnL, Realised PnL, Unrealised PnL, Invested, and Average Cost. These metrics tell a complete story about your trades, but only if you know what each one means.
This guide walks through every term on the asset detail screen so you can read your positions with confidence.
Equity
Equity shows how much of your total portfolio this single asset represents, expressed as a percentage.
If your ETH position shows 55.71%, that means ETH makes up roughly half of your portfolio's total value.
This helps you spot concentration risk at a glance. A high equity percentage in one token means your portfolio performance depends heavily on that single asset's price movement.
Current Value and Token Amount
The large dollar figure at the top of the screen is the current market value of your position. Right below it, you see the amount in tokens.
This value updates in real time based on the token's market price. In the reflects all the tokens you hold across different wallets and networks, broken down in the Network Distribution section at the bottom of the screen.
24-Hour Return
This is your position's gain or loss over the last 24 hours, shown as both a percentage and a dollar amount.
The 24-hour return only reflects price movement. It does not account for any buys or sells you made during that period.
Total PnL
Total PnL (Profit and Loss) is the combined result of your realised and unrealised gains and losses. It answers one question: across all your trades in this token, are you up or down overall?
Zerion calculates Total PnL using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method. This means the tokens you bought first are treated as the tokens you sold first. The calculation covers swaps, sends, receives, DeFi deposits, and withdrawals.
Realised PnL
Realised PnL tracks profit or loss from positions you've already closed.
Every time you sell, swap, send to another address, or withdraw from a DeFi protocol, Zerion records the gain or loss based on what you originally paid for those tokens.
For example, if you bought 1 ETH at $1,500 and later sold it at $1,900, your realised PnL on that trade is +$400.
Unrealised PnL
Unrealised PnL (aka paper gains or losses) measures the potential profit or loss on tokens you still hold. It compares what you paid for your current holdings against their market value right now.
This number changes constantly with the market price. A red, negative percentage means your current holdings are worth less than what you paid for them. You haven't actually lost that money yet, it only becomes a realised loss when you sell.
The relationship between these three metrics is straightforward: Total PnL = Realised PnL + Unrealised PnL. You can be in profit overall (positive Total PnL) even if your current holdings are underwater (negative Unrealised PnL), as long as your past trades generated enough realised gains.
Invested
Invested shows the total amount of money you've put into this token across all your purchases. This is your cumulative cost basis across every buy, swap into, or DeFi deposit counted together.
Average Cost
Average Cost is your invested amount divided by the total number of tokens you've bought. It tells you the average price you paid per token.
Network Distribution
At the bottom of the asset screen, Zerion breaks down where your tokens are held across different networks.
This view gives you a clear picture of your multichain exposure for a single asset. It's useful when deciding where to bridge or trade next.
How to Access PnL in Zerion?
To see PnL data for any token, tap on the asset in your Zerion Wallet portfolio. The basic asset screen is available to all users.
Detailed PnL tracking (including Realised PnL, Unrealised PnL, and Average Cost) is a Zerion Premium feature.
