What to Do When You've Reached the Maximum Number of Free Transactions on Zero Network?

Learn what to do when you've hit the limit for free transactions on the Zero Network and how to continue using the network for free.

Updated over a month ago

You may notice that you're being asked to pay transaction fees after making a certain number of free transactions on the ZERϴ Network. This happens because you've reached the limit of free transactions available for your account.

Why is there a limit?

Gas fees have historically served an important role: preventing network abuse. While L2s lowered gas costs, the volume of spam increased. For example, as of November 2024, over 60% of swaps on Uniswap on Base have a value under $1. To truly solve the gas problem, we need to eliminate costs for real people while fighting spam.

Our solution is called: Onchain DNA.

Onchain DNA removes transaction fees on ZERϴ for real people instead of rewarding bots and spammers. With this built-in Sybil defense, ZERϴ checks every address' past transaction history to see if it’s eligible for free transactions.

What is the limit?

The limit is determined by several factors, including the total assets in your portfolio (across all supported chains, with an emphasis on the ZERϴ Network), your on-chain activity, and the amount you bridge to the ZERϴ Network.

How much time do you need to wait for reset?

After reaching the limit, you can still transact on the ZERϴ network, but a fee (typically in ETH) will need to be paid. If you do not want to pay any fee, you may wait for your free transactions to recharge, which happens over time. The rate at which free transactions become available again depends on your on-chain activity and profile.
