WETH is a version of ETH, wrapped as an ERC-20 token.
While ETH is used to pay for gas on zkSync Era, many dapps use WETH because it’s easier to interact with in smart contracts.
You can always swap WETH and ETH at a 1:1 exchange rate.
Wrap ETH to WETH on zkSync Era
If you need WETH, you can wrap ETH in the Zerion swap tab in the web app:
Select zkSync Era as the network
Select ETH as the asset to pay with
Select WETH as the asset to receive
Click ‘swap’
Sign the transaction, pay the gas costs

Unwrap WETH to ETH on zkSync Era
If you need to convert WETH back to normal ETH, just do the same, but select WETH as the asset to pay with and ETH as the asset to receive.
